In a world of fast fashion and ever-changing trend cycles, new businesses like OG Dazzle are a perfect example of a company producing garments and unique and stylish accessories with their environmental footprint in mind.
We spoke with Harley Cheatham, one of the founders, about their business model, consumption habits, and the company's ability to bring about positive change to the retail space.
Why did you start your own business? What was your motivation?
Harley: “My sister and I launched our own business in 2020 with a vision of becoming independent and inspiring other young female entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams.”
“We believe that anything is possible when you have motivation and passion for what you do. We are proud of our achievements and excited for our future.”
What does sustainable business mean to you?
Harley: “At OG Dazzle, we are passionate about sustainable practices and show it in everything we do. Our products are made from upcycled materials that would otherwise go to waste, and we use recycled and sustainable materials for our packaging. Plus, every time you buy from us, you are helping us plant trees in places that need them the most.”
Why is environmental sustainability important to you?
Harley: “Sustainable solutions are important to us because it is the foundation of our well-being and prosperity. We care about our planet's health and our children's future. We believe that reducing our environmental impact can make a positive difference for ourselves and others.”

What other values are key to your business and your local community?
Harley: “We are passionate about mental health and self-love. We stand for equal rights and dignity for everyone. We are Mental Health Allies, fostering a culture of mental wellness and empathy where we can help each other. We welcome honest and respectful conversations with anyone who needs us.”
If you could get 85% of the world to adopt a single behavior, what would it be?
Harley: “Imagine a world where 85% of the people are composting their organic waste and ditching single-use products. That would be a huge step towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. Composting and ditching single-use products are simple but powerful actions that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save resources, and enrich the soil.”
